What is BiGchar™?

BiGchar is the trademark of Black is Green Pty Ltd for its biochar product which has been generated using "BiGchar technology", a mobile fast pyrolysis processing plant! The use of a mobile plant is an additional contribution towards avoiding greenhouse gases, as it avoids having to transport the green waste to a fixed plant.

Because green waste typically has very low density it is uneconomical and and environmentally unwise to transport it for long distances to a fixed location processing plant. Thus, the benefits of using BiG's mobile pyrolysis equipment to process green waste at or close to its source should be obvious.

The pictures below give you some idea of the reduction in volume achieved when crop waste was converted to biochar on-site by a mobile processing plant. Can you see the benefit of this when contrasted with the disadvantages of transporting all that bulky crop waste to a distant fixed location plant?

The pictures above illustrate the volume of crop waste collected from 8-9 sqm of farm land and the much smaller volume of the char generated from it.

Can you imagine how many truck loads of crop waste you would need to transport from even a single hectare if you intend to produce char at a distant, fixed location char production plant?
